25 years of PNEA – National Environmental Education Policy | CMA and CE debate the future of environmental education in Brazil

On World Environment Day, June 5th, the DX researcher Agnes Franco participated in a panel celebrating 25 years of PNEA – National Environmental Education Policy (Law 9795/1999). The activity organized by the Education (CE) and Environment (CMA) Committees of the Federal Senate had as its theme “The future of Environmental Education in Brazil”.
In her explanation, the doctoral student in Environmental Sciences defends the importance of convergence between “training and information”. Furthermore, she spoke about climate denialism and presented a narrative map demonstrating how climate misinformation happened on social media during the tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul.
At the table mediated by Dr. Marco Sorrentino, Director of Environmental Education and Citizenship at the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change, also participated Me. Fabio Barbosa (Secretariat of Education – BA), Dr. José Vicente (Univ. Zumbi dos Palmares), Mother Maria Henriqueta Andrade Raimundo (UFABC/REBEA), Dr. Rachel Trajber (CEMADEN) and Mother Renato Godoy (Alana).
