During the "Free Conference: Science in Combating Misinformation”, held this week, Marcelo Alves, Director of Methodology and Innovation, participated in the panel on scientific cooperation for transparency and informational integrity.
The professor indicated implications of the closure of data collection channels through digital platforms, in what he considers a “collapse of empirical research”.
Marcelo highlighted the increase in North-South inequality, given that Europe, for example, has minimum conditions for this access.
The researcher also highlighted the legal uncertainty in the use of data collected in other ways and a pedagogical setback, with consequences for the training of new researchers.
In the video, the researcher indicates possibilities to face this problem.
