Researcher at Democracia em Xeque participates in the event “Artificial Intelligence, misinformation and democracy” at FGV

Fundação Getúlio Vargas held an event on 04/12/2023, in partnership with FGV Direito Rio, Democracy Reporting International and Agência Lupa, to discuss the impacts of artificial intelligence on democracy.
Four thematic panels were held with the presence of authorities from Brazil and the European Union, as well as experts from the areas of Communication, Law and Technology, as well as companies and civil society. The researcher Letícia Capone, from Democracia em Xeque, followed the discussions there.
Minister Alexandre de Moraes, a participant at one of the tables, reinforced the need to regulate the digital environment and spoke about the TSE's role in combating disinformation in 2022. João Brant, Secretary of Digital Policies at SECOM, spoke about the current policies of the government and the challenges involving artificial intelligence and the performance of social media platforms.
The event also had speeches by Rodrigo Maia, President of the National Confederation of Financial Institutions; Jean Lima, President of EBC; Luis Felipe Salomão, Minister of the Superior Court of Justice; Bianca Kremer, Research Coordinator at IDP; Alessandro Mantelero, Prof. Law & Technology, Polytechnic Univ. Turin, among others.
