Beto Vasques, Ana Julia Bernardi and Letícia Capone participated, on 16/08, in a public hearing of the Commission for the Defense of Democracy, chaired by senator Eliziane Gama. The session aimed to “debate the issue of democracy in Brazil and the balance between the Powers of the Republic” and was attended and spoke by the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court Cármen Lúcia; Professor Dr. Heloisa Starling (UFMG); and Roberto Freire, national president of the Citizenship Party.

On the occasion, senator Eliziane Gama thanked the work of Democracia em Xeque before Beto Vasques spoke, who praised the creation of the commission and highlighted the need to always be aware of threats to democracy, since it is not a self-executing political system, as was long believed.
