Maria Alice “Neca” Setubal is a sociologist, with a PhD in Educational Psychology from PUC-SP (Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo) and a master's degree in Political Science from USP (University of São Paulo). She is the author of several books, articles and reviews. She was Education Coordinator for Latin America and the Caribbean at Unicef. She was president of the Board of Directors of CENPEC (Center for Studies and Research in Education, Culture and Community Action) and GIFE (Group of Institutes Foundations and Companies) and a commentator on CNN. She is currently president of the Tide Setubal Foundation Board of Trustees and a columnist for Folha de São Paulo.
