Oscar Vilhena Vieira is a founding professor and currently Director of the São Paulo Law School of Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV Direito SP), where he teaches in the areas of Constitutional Law, Human Rights and Law and Development. Graduated in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, Master in Law from Columbia University-New York, Master and Doctor in Political Science from the University of São Paulo and Post-doctorate from the Center for Brazilian Studies – St. Antonies College, University from Oxford – awarded the Sérgio Vieira de Mello scholarship. He was a Global Fellow of the Brazil Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He served as State Attorney in São Paulo, Executive Director of the United Nations Latin American Institute for Crime Prevention (ILANUD), Executive Secretary of the Teotônio Vilela Human Rights Commission, legal consultant at the Center for the Study of Violence at the University of São Paulo . He served on the Human Rights and Latin America councils of the Open Society Foundation (OSF). He was founder and executive director of the organization Conectas Human Rights and the Pro Bono Institute. He founded and was president of the Global League of Law Schools (LSGL). He serves on the Boards of the Ethos Institute, the Fair Trials organization and the Institute for Integrated Transitions (IFIT). He is a founding member and advisor to the Arns Human Rights Commission. General Coordinator of FGV's Rio Doce and Brumadinho Projects. He has published several books and academic articles; Among his most recent works, the following stand out: “Fundamental Rights – a reading of the STF jurisprudence”, “Human rights and everyday life”, “The battle of powers” ​​and “Constitution and its reserve of justice”. Oscar Vilhena is a columnist for the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo, advocates in cases of public interest and works intensely in the debate in defense of the Democratic Rule of Law.
