Survey shows that cuts and profiles created in championships maintain the circulation of propaganda on social networks

“Marçal’s cuts are a kind of precarious work lottery, in which people make videos supporting the candidate mainly in search of profit, which ends up interfering in the campaign,” says Marcelo Alves, director of methodology at the Instituto Democracia em Xeque and professor at the Department of Communication at PUC-Rio.
Marçal suspended the competitions he promoted on the Discord app. However, according to a survey by the Democracia em Xeque Institute, of the 674 TikTok accounts created or used in the championships in July, 582 were still in existence on September 23.

Of these, 282 continued to post pro-Marçal content — these are cuts in which the candidate appears campaigning, criticizing political opponents or excerpts from motivational speeches by the self-proclaimed former coach.
