The Media, Politics and Democracy Research Group at UFMT (Midiáticos) has partnered with the Democracy in Check Institute, funded by the Henrich Boll Foundation, to monitor the performance of candidates for Mayor and City Council of Cuiabá on TikTok during this year's elections. Every 15 days, the two groups will release data on the performance of politicians on the short video platform, one of the most used social networks in Brazil.
The project “Regional Electoral Hubs – Monitoring of Municipal Elections in Brazil on TikTok” combines the data collection capacity of Democracia em Xeque with the local analysis expertise of 10 research groups across the country. Midiáticos is the only representative from the Central-West region of the initiative, which will produce five reports in each municipality analyzed.
