Debate on the nomination of a female minister to the Supreme Federal Court – Special Bulletin (10/16/2025)

Published October 16, 2025

Between October 9th and 16th, the debate over the nomination of a woman to the Supreme Federal Court (STF) gained significant traction on social media, with a 1.200% increase in mentions, driven by public figures such as Anitta and Gabriela Prioli. The topic, previously restricted to the legal field, became a social and symbolic issue.

The progressive camp accounted for 70% of the engagement and led the discussion, while the press accounted for 19% and the conservative camp for 11%. The mobilization stemmed from movements and media outlets, pressuring the government to adopt a stance consistent with the discourse on diversity.

From October 13th onwards, the debate evolved from criticism to concrete proposals, with leaders presenting the names of female and black jurists for the position, transforming the agenda into a proposal for institutional reform.

The right wing, however, had little traction, with occasional attempts to redirect the issue towards evangelical representation, but without the narrative strength to dispute the dominant progressive framing.
